Speakers;
MICHEL DEBEVEC, M.D. has been with us for most of our trips. His
talks on hypothermia, cold related injuries and wilderness wound and
fracture management have been well received. Dr. Debevec has
worked in Northeastern MN for nearly 30 years in family medicine,
sports medicine, and ER. He has taught both wilderness medicine
and sports medicine seminars. He has extensive year round
wilderness tripping experience throughout North America.
DOROTHY NEMEC, M.D.
Dr. Nemec, a native of Missouri, graduated from the Universidad de
Monterrey in Monterrey Mexico. She received her internship and
residency at a Yale Affiliate Hospital in Norwalk Connecticut in 1986,
followed by a Nephrology Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in
Houston, Texas under the direction of Wadi Suki, MD. She was a
primary Nephrologist in Wisconsin for 7 years prior to establishing
MDPA LOCUMS, INC. with her husband, Larry Rand, PA-C. With an M.S.
P.H. in Epidemiology, quality care and prevention remain priorities.
She has excellent success in establishing a strong referral base, even
in locums, and still views her referring physicians as “colleagues”. She
is also fluent in Spanish.
LARRY RAND, PA-C
Mr. Rand is a nationally certified Physician Assistant in both Medicine
and Surgery since 1981. After training at the University of North Dakota
in Grand Forks, he spent 10 years in remote areas of South Dakota
working various practices and establishing Rural Health Clinics. In
1989, he was recruited to Wisconsin to develop a program to utilize PA’
s in General and Vascular Surgery, Urology and Orthopedics. This
required personal competency in each of these areas. The past 6
years have been dominated by Nephrology where he has been
providing significant hospital care and outpatient dialysis rounds. Larry
has a delightful ability to communicate with patients from all walks of
life, in addition to his peers and staff.
BETH BILDEN, M.D.
Dr. Bilden is board certified in Emergency Medicine and specializes in
toxicology. She also works ER at St. Luke's Hopital in Duluth MN, and
at the Hennepin County Poison Control Center in Minneapolis.
Theresa Gunnarson, M. D.
Dr. Gunnarson is a board certified ED Physician with an interest in
geriatrics who lives and works in Duluth, MN. She teaches ATLS as
well as speaking at conferences like ours.
Johan Bakken, M.D.
Dr. Bakken Is an Infectious disease specialist practicing in Duluth,
MN. He has an interest in tick born infections and was one of the first
to recognize and describe Human Granulocytic Ehrlichiosis.
Acreditation
We offer 15 credits of Prescribed AAFP Credits.
